UAE Recognized as a Global Leader in Environmental Sustainability
The UAE has been hailed as a leader in environmental sustainability, with its ambitious commitments and innovative projects driving proactive action against climate change.
AbdulHakim Elwaer, Assistant Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa, highlighted the nation’s efforts during the Global Food Week and the Global Food Security Summit in Abu Dhabi.
Elwaer emphasized the UAE’s significant contributions to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in addressing challenges in industrialization and agriculture. He underscored the collaborative efforts between the UAE and FAO, involving key ministries and organizations to achieve sustainable food security and agricultural innovation.
"The UAE’s partnerships with FAO and entities like the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, Dubai Municipality, and the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority demonstrate a united approach toward promoting sustainable agriculture and climate adaptation,”
Elwaer stated.
He also lauded initiatives by the UAE Space Agency and the Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi for their role in advancing agricultural technologies and sustainability practices on both local and global scales.
The UAE’s leadership in pioneering innovative agricultural practices reflects its dedication to building a resilient future while setting a benchmark for global sustainability efforts.
