European Getaways in High Demand: UAE Residents Urged to Plan Early for Visa Appointments
Travel agents are reporting a surge in bookings for European destinations, with slots fully booked until the end of August.
This surge is attributed to the upcoming Eid Al Adha break and the summer vacation period. UAE residents are eagerly planning their getaways, but the high demand for Schengen visas poses a challenge.
Industry experts warn that securing appointments for Schengen visas is becoming increasingly difficult, with slots currently booked until August's end. However, there's hope for those still seeking appointments, as occasional openings may occur due to various factors.
Monaz Billimoria, regional head of VFS Global, emphasized the necessity of planning well in advance for a hassle-free journey. She noted that visa appointments are updated in real-time on the VFS Global website, urging travellers to prioritize visa applications as they would their travel bookings.
According to Musafir, online travel agency, travel demand to Europe has surged by 40% compared to the previous year. Schengen countries are particularly popular, with travellers showing interest in exploring both traditional and lesser-known destinations.
Ramy Badr, sales head at Dopamine Travels, advised residents to regularly check the VFS website for newly available slots, as embassies occasionally release limited appointments. He stressed the importance of consistent monitoring, as appointments may be released during off-peak hours.
Anir Chatterji, an immigration partner at Vialto Partners, described securing appointments ahead of the summer break as "very challenging."
Look Out for Frauds
In light of increasing demand, VFS Global issued a warning against fraudulent entities charging fees for appointment scheduling. The company clarified that it does not charge for booking appointments on its official website, cautioning applicants to remain vigilant against such scams.
With demand soaring and appointment slots filling up fast, travellers are advised to plan ahead and remain vigilant for any openings to ensure a smooth journey to their European destinations.
