UAE Unemployment Insurance Scheme: Here's How You Can Renew Your ILOE Policy to Avoid Fines
The UAE's Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) launched the Involuntary Loss of Employment (ILOE) insurance scheme in January 2023.
This initiative aims to provide financial support to national and expatriate employees in both the public and private sectors, including those working in Freezones. Here’s a detailed guide on eligibility, subscription, renewal, and claiming the ILOE insurance policy.
Eligibility for Job Loss Payment
Residents can qualify for the job loss payment if they meet the following criteria:
- They have been employed and subscribed to the insurance program for at least 12 months.
- They have not been terminated for disciplinary reasons or due to resignation.
Mandatory Subscription
Subscribing to the UAE’s ILOE insurance scheme is mandatory for all government and private sector employees. This requirement extends to Freezone workers as well. Employees who do not subscribe or renew their ILOE insurance policy face a fine of AED 400.
