MoHRE Streamlines Worker Permit Cancellation Process: 45 Seconds with Zero Documents

In a bid to enhance efficiency and user experience, the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has unveiled a revamped cancellation process for worker permits in the UAE.

Effective immediately, the procedure now takes a mere 45 seconds, down from three minutes, and requires zero documents.

This upgrade follows the launch of the second phase of the innovative Work Bundle platform, aimed at integrating and simplifying various employment-related services. MoHRE's initiative aims to consolidate all cancellation types into a unified process, reducing the previously cumbersome requirements:

  • Document Elimination: From two required documents to none.
  • Automatic Approval: Ensuring swift and hassle-free processing.
  • Minimal Fields: Streamlining the process from seven fields to just two.

The initiative, first piloted in Dubai in March, is now being rolled out across all seven emirates, benefiting approximately 600,000 companies and over seven million workers. This move aligns with UAE's broader efforts to streamline bureaucratic procedures, following earlier reductions in processing times for work permits and residency visas from 30 days to just five days nationwide.

The streamlined cancellation process is part of a comprehensive effort by multiple government ministries and federal authorities to facilitate easier hiring for businesses and the seamless management of worker permits. With these advancements, UAE continues to demonstrate its commitment to fostering a business-friendly environment and enhancing its global competitiveness in employment services.

Services under the Work Bundle

The Work Bundle platform consolidates eight separate work and residency procedures into a single streamlined service:

  • Issuing a new work permit
  • Requesting a status adjustment
  • Issuing visas and employment contracts
  • Managing Emirates ID, residency, and medical examinations

Work Bundle also simplifies:

  • Renewing employment contracts
  • Renewing Emirates IDs and residencies
  • Managing medical examination services
  • Cancelling worker contracts, work permits, and residencies

This integration aims to enhance efficiency and ease of use across various employment-related administrative tasks in the UAE.
