UAEBBY Launches Creative Writing Competition for Young Writers
The UAE Board on Book for Young People (UAEBBY) has announced the start of its annual "Creative Writing Competition," inviting children and young people aged 6 to 18 to participate until 31st July.
This competition aims to nurture creativity, enhance literary talents, and encourage storytelling in Arabic among young participants.
Marwa Al Aqroubi, President of the UAEBBY, emphasized the competition's role in the "Read, Dream, Create" campaign, which aims to discover and nurture young talent in innovation and creativity.
"The competition has inspired hundreds of children and adolescents to pursue creative writing, enhancing their linguistic abilities and fostering a love for literature,"
she stated. It also provides a platform for emerging writers to publish their works, with many stories now available in libraries.
Participants are required to submit stories in Arabic, based on their imagination and creativity, with the option to include drawings. Entries must be printed from a computer using Microsoft Word and submitted via the "Read, Dream, Create" campaign website (www.readdreamcreate.ae) by July 31, 2024. Stories must align with UAE societal values and human constants.
The competition features two categories: children (aged 6-12) and adolescents (aged 13-18). Each category will have one winner, who will receive AED 3,000, a collection of valuable books, and a certificate of appreciation. The winning stories will also be showcased on the Council’s website.
