WEF Highlights Dubai’s Leadership in Cybersecurity and Emerging Technologies

The World Economic Forum (WEF), in its recent study “Navigating Cyber Resilience in the Age of Emerging Technologies”, has lauded Dubai Electronic Security Center’s (DESC) efforts in securing and integrating emerging technologies into the emirate’s digital infrastructure.

These initiatives have solidified Dubai’s leadership in employing cutting-edge innovations across key economic sectors such as government services, transport, manufacturing, and urban planning.

Central to Dubai’s achievements is the Dubai Cyber Security Strategy, spearheaded by DESC, which ensures the protection of digital assets while fostering innovation. The WEF report also acknowledged UAE’s national strategies, including the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, and significant investments in advanced technologies such as quantum computing, 5G, and autonomous mobility.

DESC has rolled out several pioneering policies, including the Dubai AI Security Policy, the world’s first autonomous vehicle security specification, and the RZAM cybersecurity application, which utilizes AI to protect users from phishing and malicious browsing in real time.

Highlighting these advancements, Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, CEO of DESC, said,

“Our contributions align with the vision to make Dubai the safest digital city globally, ensuring secure adoption of emerging technologies across sectors.”

DESC’s recent studies further emphasize security for connected vehicles under Dubai’s Self-Driving Transport Strategy, which aims to make 25% of Dubai’s transportation autonomous by 2030. Additionally, a detailed analysis of AI’s economic potential in Dubai, projected to reach $320 billion by 2030, underscores DESC’s commitment to fostering safe, ethical, and impactful adoption of AI technologies.

Through strategic collaborations and innovative frameworks, Dubai continues to set global benchmarks in cybersecurity and digital transformation.
