UAE Continues Leading Role in Global Climate Action at World Green Economy Summit 2024

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the World Green Economy Summit (WGES) reaffirms the UAE's commitment to advancing global efforts in climate action.

Scheduled for October 2-3 at the Dubai World Trade Centre, the summit, organised by the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, DEWA, and the World Green Economy Organization (WGEO), aims to foster dialogue among international experts, researchers, and leaders.

Themed "Empowering Global Action: Unlocking Opportunities and Advancing Progress," WGES 2024 will focus on crucial topics such as decarbonisation, climate finance, and technology's role in combating climate change.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, highlighted WGES as pivotal in supporting the UAE's ambitious climate strategies, including the Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.

The summit follows the UAE's hosting of COP28, where the 'UAE Consensus' accelerated global climate efforts and launched the USD 30 billion Alterra Fund to bolster climate finance. These initiatives underscore the UAE's proactive stance in transitioning towards sustainable energy solutions and achieving climate neutrality.

WGES 2024 is set to galvanise partnerships across sectors to drive sustainable development and safeguard natural resources, reflecting the UAE's role as a global leader in promoting environmental stewardship and green innovation.
