The inaugural Courts of Space Moot Court, a collaboration between the Dubai Future Foundation and the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) Courts, recently concluded with a groundbreaking hybrid competition.
Over four days, fifteen university teams engaged in rigorous preliminary and quarter-final rounds, culminating in the semi-finals and finals hosted at the DIFC Courts.
Participants gained invaluable insights into DIFC Courts Rules, focusing on space tourism regulations and breach of contract scenarios within the emerging space economy. The final round saw Qatar's Hamad Bin Khalifa University triumph over Gujarat National Law University, showcasing their expertise in navigating complex space-related legal disputes.
Recognizing outstanding performances, event partners Middlesex University, webnyay, and Space Monitor Middle East, alongside Dubai Future Foundation and DIFC Courts, awarded accolades to top performers and the winning team.
Justice Omar Al Mheiri of DIFC Courts emphasized the significance of preparing judges with specialized skills to handle future space-related disputes, underscoring Dubai's commitment to becoming a hub for space law expertise.
Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of Dubai Future Foundation, highlighted the event's role in positioning Dubai as a global innovation hub, fostering groundbreaking initiatives like the Courts of Space Moot Court.
