Dr. Moaz Tarbishi, Consultant ENT, Co-Chairman and Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Middle East Academy ENT Conference, which is currently being held at the Intercontinental Festival City Hotel, revealed a new technique for the treatment of chronic sinuses that has given excellent results to all patients who have undergone treatment in the country

Dr. Moaz Tarabishi said that the new technique is a plastic stent similar to heart stents that directs cortisone to the nasal bumps directly and without exposing the body's organs to cortisone for only two months, after which the stent dissolves, and the patient feels that all the symptoms associated with the sinuses have disappeared completely.

He highlighted that chronic sinusitis involves the formation of bumps, growths in the sinuses, or inflammation of the sinus lining. This prevalent condition obstructs mucus drainage, leading to nasal congestion and difficulty breathing. Patients may experience swelling or pain around the eyes. Symptoms of chronic sinusitis include a runny nose with thick, discoloured mucus, nasal congestion, and swelling around the eyes, cheeks, nose, or forehead. Additionally, it can impair the senses of smell and taste. Traditionally, treatments included surgery or medications such as antibiotics, nasal sprays, or intravenous injections. However, cortisone has emerged as an effective treatment, although it can lead to complications elsewhere in the body.

Dr. Moaz Tarabishi pointed out that the most important features of the stent that is installed is that it only directs a small amount of cortisone to the fleshy bumps only for a period of 6 months, after which the plastic stent dissolves in the body, which avoids the patient complications of cortisone and at the same time the patient gets rid of the symptoms associated with the sinuses

On the other hand, the conferees at the Middle East Academy conference discussed during their meetings over 3 days the latest and latest developments related to hearing, cochlear implants, rehabilitation for patients with hearing problems, chronic sinus infections, snoring, apnaea and imbalance problems, in addition to the latest diagnostic technologies, pioneering surgical developments and emerging treatment methods, where the lecturers gave various lectures on allergic rhinitis, ear, nose and throat surgery for children, rhinoplasty, head and neck surgery, and surgery Ear, vestibular fixation, sinuses, audiology and others.

The workshops for the TSESI Sinus course are scheduled to start tomorrow at the Neurology and Spine Hospital in Dubai Science Park, to allow the largest possible number of doctors to attend specialised workshops.
