Special Corridor Established for Haj Pilgrims at Dubai International Airport.
Dubai International Airport (DXB) has implemented a special private corridor for Haj pilgrims to ensure smooth travel ahead of the Eid Al Adha break and summer vacation. This initiative aims to prevent congestion during the peak travel period, according to Mohammad Al Marzouqi, head of the Haj Committee at Dubai Airports.
The dedicated corridor includes exclusive check-in counters, passport control, and special departure gates for pilgrims. Al Marzouqi explained that this arrangement was requested by airlines operating Haj flights almost two months ago, ensuring efficient and hassle-free travel for the pilgrims.
"From the moment they enter the airport building, Haj pilgrims have a private corridor till they reach their departure gates,"
he said.
Each airline has a designated terminal and area within the airport. For instance, some passengers will depart from Terminal 3, area 3, while Saudi Airlines will use Terminal 1, area 6, and Flynas will operate from Terminal 1, area 4.
Saudi Arabia allocates Haj quotas to various countries to ensure global participation. Over 6,200 pilgrims will depart from the UAE, with 4,600 traveling through DXB. Expatriates must adhere to their home countries' quota systems and procedures, contributing to the transit of over 100,000 expatriate pilgrims through Dubai.
The Haj pilgrimage is set to begin on June 14, with UAE residents observing a public holiday from June 15-18 to mark Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha. The extended weekend will likely see a surge in travel as residents take short vacations.
Al Marzouqi advised pilgrims to arrive at the airport at least four hours before departure for health checks, including blood pressure and sugar testing. Health experts will be available to offer advice on what to expect during the pilgrimage. Additionally, umbrellas and water bottles will be distributed to pilgrims.
Pilgrims must carry their passports, Haj permits, and vaccination cards, and thoroughly check their documents and travel details before arriving at the airport. Al Marzouqi emphasized the importance of staying hydrated, as temperatures in Saudi Arabia during Haj are expected to average 44℃.
The first return flight for Haj pilgrims is scheduled to arrive in DXB on June 19.
