‘100 Million Meals’ campaign to provide food support for the less fortunate in 20 countries during the holy month of Ramadan 2021

About the ‘100 Million Meals’ Campaign:

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign reflects the UAE’s humanitarian approach, which form a pivotal pillar of the country’s philosophy, to help those in need, regardless of race, religion or nationality. The UAE has been a major partner of global efforts to provide swift humanitarian aid in disasters and crises.

The campaign captures the true essence of the UAE’s society, built on tolerance, compassion and solidarity, and pursues the country’s efforts to combat challenges facing communities.

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign is an expansion of last year’s locally-held ’10 Million Meals’ campaign that supported COVID-19-hit communities across the UAE throughout the holy month of Ramadan. It will reach beneficiaries in 20 countries across the Middle East, Asia and Africa this year.

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign complements UAE’s humanitarian initiatives, boosting the country’s status as a philanthropic pioneer and a key contributor to global assistance in humanitarian crises.

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign aims to support the second of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals to end hunger and achieve food security by 2030. Launched during the holy month of Ramadan, the ‘100 Million Meals’ campaign aims to promote the values of giving, compassion and benevolence.

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign falls under the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), which was established in 2015, combining under its umbrella over 30 humanitarian and developmental initiatives and entities. The foundation’s programmes and projects are primarily devoted to supporting and empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged communities around the world.

‘100 Million Meals’ campaign is part of MBRGI’s Humanitarian Aid & Relief, one of the five central pillars that form the foundation’s scope of work.

MBRGI will carry out the campaign in collaboration with the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Humanitarian & Charity Establishment, the Food Banking Regional Network, United Nations World Food Programme, humanitarian and charity organizations in beneficiary countries and UAE federal and local entities. The campaign targets 20 countries including Sudan, Lebanon, Jordan, Pakistan, Angola, Uganda and Egypt.

Businessmen, companies, humanitarians and the public will have the opportunity to donate to the campaign that will secure food parcels for individuals and families in need across targeted countries in collaboration with strategic partners. Through involving different segments of the society, the campaign aims to foster a sense of social responsibility.

While COVID-19 pandemic pushed many populations into an economic despair, it drove people in the UAE to be more compassionate and giving. The campaign will deliver parcels of essential food items that enable families to prepare meals for one full month. Every AED1 donation will secure one meal.
