13th Edition of the Sikka Art & Design Festival Kicks Off in Dubai
H.H. Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, officially opened the 13th edition of the Sikka Art & Design Festival at the Al Shindagha Historic District, accompanied by Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, Minister of Culture.
The festival, organized by Dubai Culture, runs until February 9 and showcases over 350 artworks, installations, live performances, workshops, and panel discussions.
This year’s edition is the largest in the festival's history, marking significant growth in the number of activities and artistic showcases. Sheikha Latifa toured the festival, engaging with artists and highlighting the diversity of their works, which embody Dubai's rich cultural identity. She also visited key spaces like the World Stage Design House and The Khaleeji House, which features GCC-based artists.
The festival emphasizes inclusivity, with a dedicated space for People of Determination, and introduces pioneering initiatives such as the Merin Public Art Pavilion and Creatives on Wheels. Over 40 artworks align with the Dubai Public Art Strategy, and 13 murals capture the essence of urban art. The festival also includes over 450 workshops, nearly 100 live performances, and a special night dedicated to Emirati music.
Sheikha Latifa emphasized the festival’s role in nurturing creativity and skill development, aligning with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy. She also praised its contribution to Dubai's cultural scene, positioning the city as a global hub for art and creativity. The festival’s growing influence was underscored by a 50% increase in applications this year.
The event also features a diverse culinary scene, with over 50 F&B concepts and the House of Saffron offering exclusive dining experiences.
