Dubai to Host 14 Sports Events, Including 4 International Championships This Weekend

14 various community & competitive sports events, including 4 international championships, will take place during this weekend in different locations of Dubai, in collaboration with Dubai Sports Council.

Top on the list of the international events is the 19th edition of Hankook 24H Dubai, which is scheduled Friday 26th Jan. at 03:00 pm at Dubai Autodrome in the heart of Motor City with participation of elite of world champions in the vehicle endurance races. Drivers have commenced test races since last Tuesday, with four rounds being held daily up to the race day.  

The Hankook 24H Dubai Race will be held with participation of 60 teams, driving 54 various types of the strongest world vehicles including “GTX”, “GT3” & “TSR”; top of which are Ferrari, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche and BMW. Racers will drive their vehicles through consecutive 24 hours, as each vehicle will be driven by four drivers in turns. The winner will be announced by the end of the race on Sunday 28th Jan. 2024 at 03:00 pm. 

Dubai Challenge Cup will be held from Friday 26th to Sunday 28th Jan. 2024 at Al-Maktoum Stadium in Al-Nasr Sports Club with participation of four teams; these are: Zamalek of Egypt, Raja of Morocco, Al-Ahli from Saudi Arabia and Wuhan Three Towns from China. The Tournament’s details will be declared in a press conference, to be organized by Dubai Sports Council on Thursday 25th Jan. at its premises in Dubai Design District. 

Dubai International Basketball Championship continues at Rashid Bin Hamdan Hall in Al-Nasr Club with participation of 12 teams, and it will be concluded on Sunday. The Championship witnesses the participation of the strongest Arab & Asian clubs; these are: UAE National Team / Tunisian National Team / the Filipino Strong Group Club, to which the world star Dwight Howard is playing / Beirut & Hometown of Lebanon / Al-Ahli of Tripoli & Benghazi from Libya / Al-Wahda & Al-Hikma of Syria / the Sala Team of Morocco & Al-Nasr Club of UAE.

3000 Racers:

The Half Marathon will launch from Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club on Sunday 26th Jan. with participation of 3000 male & female racers of various ages & multi-nationalities, who will compete in two different distances as follows: 21.2 km race & 10 km race.  Participants are expected to contest tough challenge around Dubai Creek, passing through Al-Shindagha Historical District, Dubai Museum and several beautiful tourist landmarks in this area.

The football competition of Dubai Schools Games Tournament will be concluded today (Thursday) at Al-Nasr Sports Club. The Tournament is the biggest of its kind in Dubai as it represents the first preliminary stages in the process of scouting & developing sports talents, and it supports the Olympic champions creating program. The Tournament is held with participation of 8500 male & female students from 200 schools who are competing in 23 sports games. The EMD International Boxing Championship will take place on Sunday 26th Jan. at the Agenda Hall in Dubai Media City with participation of 22 boxers from the various countries of the world. 

The Silver Polo Cup continues at Al-Habtoor Polo Club & Resort, and will be concluded on 3rd Feb. The DP World ILT20 Cricket League will be held at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai Sports City. The Dassa School Run will take place at the Sevens Stadium. The 1st UAE Bowling Championship for People with Down Syndrome will be arranged at Dubai International Bowling Center.

Hamdan Sports Complex will host the Open Swimming Championship, and the HSBC Youth Rugby Festival will be held at the Sevens Stadium. The 4th Training Race for Preparation of the Dubai 92 Spinneys Race will take place at Al-Qudra Cycling Track. The Hilton Tower Race will launch from Helton Dubai the Walk.
