38th FIMS World Congress of Sports Medicine Kicks Off in Dubai
H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai and President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, emphasized the UAE's pivotal role in advancing human possibilities through its world-class infrastructure and venues for international forums. His remarks came as he welcomed participants to the 38th International Federation of Sports Medicine (FIMS) World Congress of Sports Medicine, which starts tomorrow in Dubai.
The four-day congress, hosted at the Dubai World Trade Centre, brings together elite sports medicine practitioners, including specialists in orthopaedic surgery, physiotherapy, sports nutrition, and biomechanics, from around the globe. The event, one of the most significant in the field, will explore ways to enhance athletes' physical and mental well-being, safety, and performance.
Sheikh Ahmed underscored that sustained excellence in sports requires adherence to scientific wisdom and international best practices, which are essential for supporting athletes in their global endeavors. The congress will present 16 sessions, 130 speakers, six workshops, and 304 research papers, with participation from over 70 countries.
Key sessions will cover topics such as medical care in marathons, biomechanics, pain management, and the role of AI in sports. The congress will also introduce the Young Researcher Award in Sports Medicine and Sports Performance, fostering innovation among young professionals.
Organized by the UAE National Olympic Committee, the event is co-hosted by entities including the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and the Emirates Society of Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine.
