Summer brings a bunch of plants out to play, and if you're all about saving the planet and want some cool tricks to freshen up your home, check out these fancy plants that can help ease your mind.

Indoor air quality is becoming a thing, and tackling it is on the agenda. Luckily, a bunch of indoor plants aren't just there for looks – they're like nature's own air purifiers, battling pollution and making your space look awesome at the same time.

Harish Gowda, a horticulture expert at souqgarden.com, breaks down what these plants need to flourish.

"When it comes to indoor plants, they fall into three categories based on how much light they need: low, medium, and high light. The low-light gang loves places with less than 750 lux of light, the medium-light crew is good with 750-1500 lux, and the high-light champs demand over 1500 lux."

All indoor plants require three fundamental elements: air, light, and water. The watering schedule generally spans around once per week, though this can vary depending on factors such as the type of plant and the size of the pot.

Nippy, the head of Agricultural World Gardens, emphasized the importance of maintaining the right temperature for indoor plants. He suggested that the temperature should ideally stay below 23°C to ensure optimal growth and development. He pointed out,

"Going beyond 30°C isn't advised, but indoor plants are usually tough and won't die off. However, their progress might slow down."

According to Harish, Nasa conducted an interesting experiment. They found that specific indoor plants, like bamboo palm, English palm, and snake plant, possess an impressive talent for purifying indoor air by effectively absorbing harmful elements like benzene, trichloroethylene, and formaldehyde. He explained,

"The Nasa study highlighted these plants' ability to cleanse indoor air, acting as natural filters against carcinogenic substances."

Here are the five plants that will thrive in summer and indoors:

Sansevieria Trifasciata Laurentiis (Snake Plant)

Sansevieria Trifasciata Laurentiis, commonly known as Snake Plant or Mother-in-law's Tongue, is a sturdy indoor plant. Flourishing in low to medium-light environments, it demands minimal watering and can endure temperatures below 23°C due to its attractive, diverse leaves. With its decorative appeal and air-purifying qualities, this plant is a favored selection for newcomers, adding aesthetic charm to indoor spaces.

Spathiphyllum (Peace Lily)

Known as the Peace Lily, Spathiphyllum brings a touch of nature's elegance to indoor spaces. With its lush, deep green foliage and graceful white flowers, it exudes a sense of tranquility. This versatile plant is well-suited for both homes and commercial environments, as it can adapt to moderate to low light conditions. Requiring minimal care, it only needs to be watered weekly and thrives in temperatures under 23°C. The Peace Lily's air-purifying abilities contribute to a healthier atmosphere, while its aesthetic charm creates a soothing ambiance. With its adaptability and refined beauty, it seamlessly complements any decor, infusing spaces with fresh air and a touch of nature's serenity.

Dracaena Fragrans (Corn Plant)

The Corn Plant, scientifically named Dracaena Fragrans, is a popular indoor foliage. Characterized by its tall, slender stems adorned with sword-shaped leaves featuring green hues intertwined with yellow stripes, it's a recognizable sight. Flourishing in moderate light conditions, this plant demands minimal upkeep. Keep its soil relatively dry between watering sessions and maintain temperatures lower than 23°C. With its air-purifying qualities and captivating aesthetics, the Corn Plant brings a touch of the tropics to indoor spaces. It's a delightful option for those seeking both visual allure and health-conscious benefits.

Chamaedorea Seifrizii (Bamboo Palm)

For those aiming to infuse a natural ambiance into their homes, Chamaedorea Seifrizii, commonly known as the Bamboo Palm, serves as a valuable indoor botanical treasure. Its slender, delicate branches and gracefully curving fronds reminiscent of bamboo lend a touch of tropical allure to any setting. With its minimal care needs and evident visual appeal, this palm variety stands as an excellent choice for both novice and experienced plant enthusiasts.

Notably, one of the Bamboo Palm's remarkable attributes lies in its capacity to enhance the quality of indoor air. As it thrives, it diligently engages in purifying and oxygenating the environment, making a significant contribution to cultivating a healthier living space.

Aglaonema Modestum (Chinese Evergreen)

The Chinese Evergreen, scientifically named Aglaonema modestum, is a charming and versatile indoor plant admired for its attractive foliage and low-maintenance nature. Originating from Southeast Asia and classified within the Araceae family, this species flourishes indoors, making it a popular choice among plant enthusiasts.

Ficus Benjamina (Weeping Fig)

The Weeping Fig, scientifically known as Ficus benjamina, is a well-liked and visually appealing indoor tree belonging to the Moraceae family. Originating from Southeast Asia and Australia, this plant has gained widespread popularity as an interior decoration choice in homes and commercial spaces globally.

Proper care for the Weeping Fig involves being attentive to its specific needs for light and water. It thrives in bright, indirect light conditions, although it can adapt to lower light levels. Regular watering is necessary, allowing the soil to partially dry out between watering sessions. However, as the Weeping Fig is susceptible to root rot, preventing excessive watering is crucial.
