AJ Al Asmawi Group has signed a musataha agreement with Dubai Industrial City to expand its operations and establish one of the UAE's first oil rig manufacturing and refurbishment facilities, marking a landmark moment for the country's industrial sector.
The agreement was signed at the fifth edition of the Make it in the Emirates 2026 event. The expansion involves an additional AED 45 million investment, bringing the group's total commitment at Dubai Industrial City to approximately AED 500 million.
The new development will span over 330,000 sq.ft., pushing AJ Al Asmawi Group's total footprint at the district to around 4.7 million sq.ft. Construction is expected to be completed by end of 2027.
The facility will deliver drilling structures, rig packages, and full lifecycle services manufactured entirely within the UAE, addressing supply chain gaps, reducing lead times, and supporting national industrial priorities under the Make it in the Emirates initiative. It will also incorporate smart manufacturing technologies and comply with international sustainability standards including ISO 14001 and ISO 41001.
The expansion is expected to create around 200 new jobs, adding to the group's existing workforce of approximately 1,400 employees at the district.
Chairman Abduljalil Mahdi Mohd Al Asmawi said the expansion reflects the group's ongoing commitment to building industries that serve future sectors and contribute to the UAE's economic growth.
Saud Abu Alshawareb, Executive Vice President – Industrial at TECOM Group, highlighted that the move aligns with Operation 300bn, Make it in the Emirates, and the Dubai Economic Agenda D33.
AJ Al Asmawi Group operates across sectors including oil and gas, metal fabrication, logistics, food and beverage, and real estate.
