Brand Dubai launches Al Quoz Creative Zone Guide
A new #DubaiDestinations guide titled the ‘Al Quoz Creative Zone Guide’ invites residents and visitors to explore the attractions and activities in Dubai’s burgeoning creative hub in Al Quoz.
Developed by Brand Dubai, the creative arm of the Government of Dubai Media Office, in collaboration with the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), the guide provides a comprehensive list of recreational, culinary, art, cultural and retail experiences in the Al Quoz Creative Zone. An integrated creative industry cluster being developed by the Dubai Culture and Arts Authority as part of the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, the Al Quoz Creative Zone aims to transform the community that has been organically developing in the Al Quoz area over the past few years into a comprehensive ecosystem for creative businesses.
Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, Director of the Marketing and Corporate Communication Department at Dubai Culture, said:
"The Al Quoz Creative Zone project, which aims to create a community for creatives from all over the world, is aligned with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to cement Dubai's position as a global centre for culture, an incubator for creativity, and a thriving hub for talent. Dubai Culture is working to provide a comprehensive infrastructure for artists and other creative talent to live, work and display their products, as part of the broader framework of developing the cultural and creative industries in Dubai."
Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi said the cooperation between Dubai Culture and Brand Dubai to develop the 'Al Quoz Creative Zone Guide' as part of the #DubaiDestinations campaign will raise the profile of activities and events in the Al Quoz Creative Zone.
“The project, which features many facilities designed to provide visitors with unique experiences inspired by the culture of the region, creates a new model for building creative zones. The potential of the Al Quoz Creative Zone highlights the strength of Dubai's creative economy,"
she added.
Shaima Al Suwaidi, Director of Brand Dubai, said:
“We are delighted to collaborate with Dubai Culture to develop the ‘Al Quoz Creative Zone Guide’, which forms part of broader efforts to raise the profile of the area as a major creative destination. The Al Quoz Creative Zone is one of the major communities featured in the latest #DubaiDestinations campaign, which seeks to weave together compelling content from diverse stakeholders to tell the story of Dubai’s emergence as one of the world’s best winter destinations. A hub for artists, designers, performers and creative entrepreneurs, the Al Quoz Creative Zone features a vast selection of galleries, studios and workshops where people can connect with art, culture, music and creativity. Further, the Zone offers exciting culinary, entertainment and retail experiences, which have been extensively detailed in the guide.”
The guide includes many homegrown businesses that are part of the ‘Proudly from Dubai’ network, an initiative launched by Brand Dubai to highlight the success stories of businesses born and initiated in Dubai. The ‘Proudly from Dubai’ network features innovative and creative businesses shaping Dubai’s emerging business and entrepreneurial culture.
A host of galleries and workshops based in the Al Serkal Avenue, the heart of Dubai’s vibrant artistic landscape, located within the Al Quoz Creative Zone, are listed in the guide, including Ayyam Gallery, The Third Line, Green Art Gallery and Picasso Art Gallery. Visitors to these galleries can explore local, regional and international art in a wide range of genres ranging from traditional to contemporary.
The Al Quoz Creative Zone is a place where people can tap into their inner artists with diverse creative activities. Workshops featured in the guide offer community spaces for people to join like-minded enthusiasts to engage in hobbies that nourish their souls including painting, pottery, sculpture, ceramic art, music, dance, woodwork and baking.
Apart from immersing themselves in art and culture, the new guide enables people to savour the culinary creations of the many Instagrammable restaurants and cafes located in the destination and explore its trendy boutique stores.
The entertainment attractions in the Zone listed in the guide include Cinema Akil, the first independent cinema in the GCC, and the Hungarian Games, which offers unique indoor ‘escape games’. An integrated creative community, the Al Quoz Creative Zone offers business-enabling services and a supportive ecosystem designed to encourage creative entrepreneurship and help the sector raise its contribution to Dubai’s GDP.
The new guide is part of the latest #DubaiDestinations winter campaign, which highlights the attractions and experiences that make the emirate a top pick among global destinations this season.
