Airbus Expands Aviation Manufacturing Footprint in the UAE with New Partnership

Airbus has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to the UAE's aviation sector with a new partnership agreement aimed at producing a specialised fuel tank for the C295 transport aircraft.

Jean-Brice Dumont, Head of Air Power at Airbus Defence and Space, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, noting that all Airbus aircraft currently produced are equipped with parts manufactured in the UAE.

Dumont emphasized Airbus' ambition to further strengthen its industrial activities in the UAE, aiming to double its footprint over the next decade. The company views the UAE as a strategic partner, not only for meeting local market needs but also for transforming it into a global hub for aircraft parts manufacturing. This, Dumont explained, would open significant export opportunities for Emirati industries.

The partnership with EDGE Group, including its subsidiary EPI, marks a major milestone in the UAE's journey toward industrial independence. The UAE has become the sole global supplier of the C295 fuel tank parts, underscoring the country's growing role in the aviation industry. This initiative follows a decade-long collaboration that began in 2010, when Airbus and Strata, another local partner, produced the first locally manufactured part.

Airbus is committed to empowering Emirati talent, providing training and support to enhance technical expertise and innovation at the local level. Dumont stated that Airbus' efforts extend beyond production, aiming to foster a culture of advanced technical knowledge and expertise among Emirati workers, positioning the UAE as a leader in the global aviation market.
