The tech giant's next smartphone range - which isn't expected to be announced until September - looks set to offer a screen with a 120Hz refresh rate for the Pro and Pro Max models.
According to The Elec, rival company Samsung will be the sole supplier of screens for the two models. The site reports that the devices will use LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) OLED screen capable of running at up to 120Hz.
Meanwhile, just like the iPhone 12 range, the iPhone 13 and 13 mini will have LTPS (low-temperature polycrystalline silicon) OLED panels. Although LTPO isn't needed for a 120Hz refresh rate, the technology s more power efficient and makes it possible to get an adaptive refresh rate without needing extra harder.
Furthermore according to the report, all four of the iPhone 14 models will boast LTPO OLED screens, but Apple won't be reliant on Samsung for the panels at that point, with LG supplying some too. As yet, the possibility of a 120Hz upgrade remains a rumour, but time will tell as Apple releases details for its next range.
