The Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC), in partnership with the Masters Tournament and The R&A, has announced that the 16th Asia-Pacific Amateur Championship will take place from October 23 to 26, 2025, at the Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. This prestigious championship will return to Dubai for the second time, following its successful debut in the region in 2021.
The tournament will feature the top male amateurs from the 43 affiliated organizations of the APGC. The champion will earn an invitation to compete in the following year’s Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club and gain an exemption into The 154th Open at Royal Birkdale. Runners-up will have the opportunity to participate in the Final Qualifying for The Open.
Taimur Hassan Amin, Chairman of the APGC, expressed pride in hosting the championship at a world-class venue, noting,
“Dubai and the United Arab Emirates have a rich history of golf… and we are thrilled to watch some of the best players in the world return next year.”
Notable past competitors include Hideki Matsuyama, a two-time Asia-Pacific Amateur winner and the 2021 Masters champion, and Cameron Smith, champion of The 150th Open. Alumni of the championship have collectively secured 27 PGA Tour victories and over 130 wins across major professional tours.
General Abdullah Al Hashmi, Vice Chairman of the Emirates Golf Federation, stated,
“Bringing the collection of talent from across the Asia-Pacific region to Emirates Golf Club in 2025 will be an honor.”
Emirates Golf Club’s Majlis Course, designed by Karl Litten and established in 1988, is renowned for its stunning views of Dubai's skyline and its status as the first grass course in the Middle East.
