The second day of Aviation Future Week (AFW), co-organized by Emirates Airline and the Museum of the Future, spotlighted the crucial role of airfreight and logistics in driving global economic growth.

Industry leaders delved into the challenges, opportunities, and technological advancements shaping the sector.

Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Operations Officer, emphasized Dubai's significance as a key international trade hub, citing its world-class infrastructure and integrated multi-modal setup.

“Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) is set to boost its capacity and workforce in line with fleet growth, propelling the industry forward,”

he noted.

Majed Al Mansoori, Deputy Executive Director at the Museum of the Future, opened the day, reflecting on Dubai's aviation-driven transformation.

“Aviation has connected cultures and turned Dubai into a global metropolis,”

he remarked, adding that the museum provides a platform for aviation’s brightest minds to explore future opportunities.

A panel session titled ‘Perspective of Freight Demand and Logistics Centre’ featured experts like Nadeem Sultan of Emirates SkyCargo, Hamdi Osman of SolitAir Cargo Airline, and Robert Frei of DP World. They discussed the growth of ecommerce and supply chain disruptions, highlighting Dubai’s strategic role in global trade. Sultan underscored the importance of collaboration, while Osman pointed to the potential of expanding connectivity via rail networks.

Another session on MRO capabilities included industry leaders from Rolls Royce and GE Aerospace. They highlighted the sector’s resilience post-pandemic and the critical need for technological innovation and talent retention to enhance performance and overcome supply chain challenges.

The discussions set the stage for future collaboration and growth in the aviation and logistics industries.
