The Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai (AWQAF Dubai), in partnership with the Community Development Authority (CDA), has introduced the ‘SANED’ initiative via Dubai’s Community Contributions Platform, Jood.
This new initiative aims to establish a sustainable charitable endowment to support low-income families, ensuring their food needs are met.
The endowment features a residential building in the Dubai South district, comprising 40 apartments across five floors, along with parking facilities. Valued at AED 30 million, the project is expected to generate an 8 percent return, which will fund AED 1,000 SANED cards for beneficiary families to purchase essential food items.
Hessa Buhumaid, Director General of the CDA, emphasized the initiative's embodiment of cooperation and solidarity.
“By establishing this charitable endowment, we seek to collectively work to meet the food needs of vulnerable groups, including orphans, widows, senior citizens, people of determination, and low-income citizens,” she stated, highlighting the shared goal of improving the quality of life for those facing challenges.
Ali Mohammed Al Mutawa, Secretary-General of AWQAF Dubai, praised the collaboration with the CDA and expressed confidence in community support for the SANED endowment.
“The initiative is designed to create a permanent investment to fund SANED cards, providing sustainable food support to those in need,”
he remarked.
So far, 3,000 SANED cards worth AED 3 million have been distributed to assist families in need. The SANED initiative invites participation from government and private entities, as well as philanthropists, providing everyone the opportunity to contribute to this important cause.
