The Endowments and Minors’ Trust Foundation in Dubai has launched the third phase of the Dubai Government Employees’ Endowment for Hajj and Umrah, expanding a growing initiative that channels public sector contributions into sustainable charitable assets supporting low-income beneficiaries.

The new phase introduces an endowment project in Al Rashidiya, funded entirely through voluntary donations from Dubai Government employees. The development will consist of two residential villas with a combined valuation of around AED8 million, including land and construction. With construction costs estimated at AED5 million, the project is expected to generate an annual return of 10 percent.

Revenue from the endowment will be used to cover Hajj and Umrah expenses for eligible individuals, enabling those with limited financial means to fulfil their religious obligations while reinforcing social solidarity across the community.

Employees can contribute through the Smart Employee application operated by Digital Dubai, which facilitates automated monthly deductions that are aggregated to finance the construction and long-term management of the endowment.

Ali Al Mutawa, Secretary General of Awqaf Dubai, said the latest phase reflects strong participation from government employees in previous cycles and aligns with leadership efforts to institutionalise innovative charitable endowments addressing community needs.

Abdullah Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, Director General of Dubai Government Human Resources Department, noted that the initiative supports the objectives of the Dubai Social Agenda 33 by strengthening social cohesion while promoting sustainable development.

Since its launch in 2022, the programme has attracted more than 4,000 employees from 44 government entities and funded several humanitarian endowments, including initiatives supporting charitable causes and the printing of the Holy Quran.
