As schools in the UAE reopen, traffic congestion near school zones is a common issue. The primary cause is parents stopping their cars in front of schools to drop off or pick up their children, creating bottlenecks.
Transportation experts warn that this practice is unsafe and can result in fines of up to AED 1,000 and six black points on a driving license.
Parents are encouraged to arrive early, use designated parking areas, or opt for carpooling and school buses to minimize traffic. Some schools are adopting staggered start times to further reduce congestion. Parents must also set a positive example in road safety, demonstrating courteous behavior and educating their children on safe practices.
