Dubai is preparing to unveil a transformed waterfront destination as H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum conducted a site visit to review final progress on the Jumeirah Beach 1 development project.
The initiative led by Dubai Municipality is set to enhance public beach infrastructure and elevate coastal experiences for residents and visitors.
Accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and several senior officials including Omar Sultan Al Olama, Abdulla Mohammed Al Basti and Mattar Al Tayer, Sheikh Hamdan received a detailed briefing from Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director-General of Dubai Municipality. Project works have reached a completion rate of more than 95 percent.
Spanning 1,400 metres along the Jumeirah coastline, the redevelopment represents a comprehensive upgrade of design, facilities and services. The beach is scheduled to reopen to the public in early February with an official launch planned for early February. It will feature modern recreational and sports zones, family-friendly amenities and dedicated pedestrian, cycling and jogging paths to promote active lifestyles.
Sheikh Hamdan emphasised that Dubai continues to set new benchmarks in sustainable, people-centred urban planning. He noted that public beaches are an essential part of the emirate’s identity and their development reflects the leadership’s commitment to improving quality of life.
The project aligns with the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033 and the Dubai Urban Master Plan 2040 which prioritise accessible public spaces and efficient mobility networks. Enhancements include restrooms, showers, changing rooms, parking areas with electric vehicle charging stations and climate-resilience measures such as raising the beach level and replenishing it with 250,000 cubic metres of clean sand.
Advanced technologies including wireless internet, smart lockers and AI-enabled rescue and monitoring systems have also been integrated. Dubai Municipality confirmed that the project forms part of a broader programme to upgrade beaches across the emirate and strengthen Dubai’s global appeal as a leading beach city.
