The 45th edition of Big 5 Global opened at the Dubai World Trade Centre, bringing together government leaders, industry innovators, and policymakers from across the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia (MEASA) region.
With a pipeline of US$9 trillion in construction projects, the event emphasized the pivotal role the sector plays in the region’s growth.
Josine Heijmans, Senior Vice President at dmg events, hailed the successful opening, noting the event’s focus on collaboration and innovation.
“The opening day saw inspiring discussions, new partnerships, and significant business activity,”
she said, highlighting Big 5 Global’s role as a hub for industry advancement.
The day featured a series of strategic summits, including the Big 5 Global Leaders’ Summit, GeoWorld Summit, and IFMA Global | Middle East Summit. Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, kicked off the Leaders' Summit with a keynote speech on visionary leadership in construction. Fred Mills, Founder of The B1M, emphasized the sector’s transformative potential, stating, “There is no other industry where you can make a bigger difference.”
Meanwhile, the GeoWorld Summit focused on geospatial technology, with Dr. Hasni Ghedira from Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence discussing its importance in mitigating the impact of extreme weather events.
On the exhibition floor, major deals were signed. BAUER Maschinen GmbH and Pinnacle International Piling agreed on a multi-million-euro deal for the BAUER BG36 piling rig, while WhiteHelmet and SB Scaffolding sealed an MoU to introduce innovative construction solutions to India.
The event also celebrated global cooperation, with country pavilions from Saudi Arabia, China, Turkey, and others showcasing regional innovations and aligning with initiatives like Saudi Vision 2030.
