Businesswomen in the UAE are reaching remarkable milestones, significantly contributing to the national economy while spearheading innovative solutions for the community.
Supported by robust government policies and societal encouragement, the number of businesswomen and their economic impact have grown steadily, reinforcing the UAE's reputation as a global leader in women's empowerment and entrepreneurship.
A recent report by the Emirates Businesswomen Council highlights that women now represent 34.6% of the UAE workforce in 2024, up from 32.5% in 2023. Businesswomen account for 18% of all entrepreneurs, with 77.6% of women-led businesses being managed by women under 40, emphasizing their pivotal role in driving economic growth.
The report also revealed that 48.8% of these women hold executive-director positions, and 61.4% own their businesses outright, showcasing the rise of female entrepreneurship in the UAE. In the first half of 2024 alone, over 2,000 new businesses were established by Emirati women, representing 22% of all new business registrations.
Innovation is at the forefront of their success, with businesswomen launching a cutting-edge digital platform offering AI-driven consulting and financing services for women-led projects. Additionally, a smart application has been introduced to help manage SMEs, providing solutions for digital marketing and HR management.
Notably, UAE businesswomen are also pioneering projects in renewable energy and environmental sustainability. Key initiatives include solar energy production from rooftops, a startup specializing in remote healthcare services using virtual reality with a AED200 million investment, and an e-commerce platform connecting local artisans with the global market, which generated over AED150 million in its first year.
These achievements highlight the growing influence of Emirati businesswomen in shaping the future of the UAE’s economy.
