Calidus Holding Group and Airbus have signed an agreement to explore the creation of a dedicated Aircraft Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul centre for the A400M in the UAE, marking a significant step toward strengthening the country’s aerospace capabilities.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Khalifa Murad Alblooshi, Managing Director and CEO of Calidus Holding Group, and Gerd Weber, Head of the A400M programme at Airbus, during the Dubai Airshow running from 17 to 21 November 2025.

The proposed MRO centre would introduce advanced maintenance infrastructure for the A400M while supporting technology transfer, engineering expertise, and specialised training. The initiative is expected to build long term national capability and open new opportunities for Emirati engineers and technicians, supporting broader Emiratisation goals.

The project also aims to boost supply chain localisation by qualifying UAE based suppliers for components and tooling. Calidus said the move aligns with the country’s vision to advance domestic defence industries and establish a resilient aerospace ecosystem.

Dr. Alblooshi said the agreement reinforces Calidus’ commitment to local capability building and positions the company for greater regional leadership in aircraft maintenance and innovation.

Gabriel Semelas, President of Airbus Africa and Middle East, described the partnership as an important step toward localising A400M support services in the region while enhancing workforce skills and strengthening the supply chain.

Both companies say the collaboration has the potential to advance industrial self sufficiency and further elevate the UAE’s position as a global hub for aerospace excellence.
