China has emerged as the global leader in science and technology clusters, with 26 of its clusters ranking in the top 100, according to the World Intellectual Property Organization's (WIPO) 2024 Global Innovation Index. This marks a significant increase, surpassing the United States and Germany.

The report highlights the rapid growth of Chinese clusters, particularly in Hefei and Zhengzhou, which drive the country's innovation ecosystem. WIPO Director-General Daren Tang praised these clusters for their critical role in fostering national innovation and emphasized WIPO’s ongoing support for translating research into practical solutions through intellectual property.

China's focus on science and technology as key development drivers has been evident in regional strategies like the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei and Yangtze River Delta developments. This approach solidifies China's position as a global innovation hub, with increasing cooperation with international organizations to tackle global challenges.

Guo Wen, spokesperson for the China National Intellectual Property Administration, underscored the central region's significant contribution to China's high-quality development, citing advances in intellectual property services and the establishment of national-level IP operation centers in key industries.

As China continues to prioritize innovation, its collaboration with international bodies like WIPO aims to strengthen technological creativity and intellectual property management, ensuring sustained growth in its science and technology sectors.
