CME Group, the world’s leading derivatives marketplace, has officially expanded into the Middle East with the opening of its new office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Operating under a DFSA licence, the move marks a major step in the company’s global growth strategy and its commitment to serving regional markets.

The Dubai office will cater to growing demand across the region for CME Group’s futures, options, and cash markets in asset classes including interest rates, equities, foreign exchange, energy, agriculture, metals, and cryptocurrency.

Julie Winkler, Chief Commercial Officer at CME Group, said the Middle East’s financial markets have experienced “tremendous growth” in recent years driven by rising institutional and retail participation.

“It is imperative that we serve this market with the dedication it deserves,”

she said, adding that the company plans to deepen its regional engagement through education, seminars, and regulatory collaboration.

Serge Marston, Head of EMEA at CME Group, described the Dubai office as the firm’s new Middle East hub, serving the UAE and surrounding markets while reinforcing its EMEA presence.

DIFC Authority’s Chief Business Development Officer, Salmaan Jaffery, welcomed the expansion, noting that CME Group’s presence highlights Dubai’s strategic role as a global financial hub and the growing opportunities across the region.

The UAE office will be led by Sharif Jaghman, Director and Head of Middle East and Africa, who brings over 17 years of experience in financial services. In line with its regional focus, CME Group also announced plans to list the USD/AED spot pair on EBS Market and EBS Direct starting June 30, 2025.
