Dubai’s Crown Prince, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, has announced the renaming of the College of Nursing and Midwifery at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) to the Hind Bint Maktoum College of Nursing and Midwifery.
This initiative honors H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for her outstanding contributions to education, healthcare, and humanitarian causes.
Sheikh Hamdan highlighted Sheikha Hind’s global recognition for her humanitarian efforts and inspirational values, which embody the essence of the nursing profession. He expressed hope that the college would motivate Emiratis to pursue nursing careers, fostering excellence in healthcare and furthering Dubai’s vision as a global hub for advanced healthcare services.
The renaming is part of the “Thank You Sheikha Hind” campaign, initiated by Sheikh Mohammed to celebrate her lifelong commitment to community welfare. The Hind Bint Maktoum College aims to nurture highly skilled national professionals, aligning with global standards and advancing Dubai’s healthcare sector.
In collaboration with Queen’s University Belfast, the college offers master’s programs in Paediatric and Cardiovascular Nursing, with plans to expand into Emergency Medicine and Critical Care. Accredited by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation, the college also facilitates clinical training in Northern Ireland, ensuring students gain expertise aligned with international best practices.
This initiative underscores MBRU’s dedication to excellence in nursing education, empowering local talent to build a robust, integrated healthcare system in the UAE.
