Commercial Bank of Dubai (CBD) hosted a Microsoft Copilot Promptathon today, in collaboration with the Microsoft Innovation Hub, to accelerate the adoption of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in line with the UAE's vision to become a global leader in AI innovation.

The event marks the launch of CBD’s large-scale rollout of Microsoft Copilot to over 800 employees.

The Promptathon, facilitated by Microsoft and CBD's Data & AI team, aligns with Dubai’s ‘One Million Prompters’ initiative, which aims to train one million individuals in AI prompt engineering.

Dr. Bernd van Linder, CEO of CBD, emphasized the rapid technological advancements in banking, stating that AI, Open Finance, and Quantum Computing will fundamentally reshape the industry.

Participants, including CBD’s executive leadership team, worked together to tackle a current business challenge using advanced prompt engineering techniques. These efforts aim to enhance the use of Microsoft Copilot, improving productivity and innovation across the organization.

Naim Yazbeck, Microsoft’s UAE General Manager, highlighted the importance of CBD’s commitment to AI, stating that the bank’s focus on prompt engineering will set new standards in AI integration for the financial sector.

CBD's AI initiatives also include a previous internal Promptathon and the designation of ‘Prompt Ambassadors’ to drive AI adoption across teams. The bank’s broader digital transformation efforts include the launch of award-winning platforms and partnerships with fintech leaders.

With over 800 employees now adopting Microsoft Copilot, CBD continues to lead the way in AI-driven banking solutions, reinforcing its position as a key player in Dubai's digital future.
