Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has met 75% of its targets for 21 services in just three months, including 16 powered by artificial intelligence, and is working to reach 100% over the next three months.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, announced the progress on the sidelines of the 12th World Green Economy Summit in Dubai. He thanked Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, for his directives and continued support.

Al Tayer said DEWA now has Emirati professionals in first-, second- and third-tier leadership positions. He credited the achievement to the dedication and collective efforts of the authority’s employees rather than any individual.

Abdulrahim Sultan, Director-General of the World Green Economy Organisation, said the body aims to turn dialogue at the summit into practical public-private partnerships. Governments would propose projects, while private companies would deliver them in cooperation with government entities. He said the organisation works with 96 member countries that offer a range of projects and investment opportunities.

Sultan pointed to the value of international gatherings such as the summit, the UN climate conferences, including the upcoming one in Türkiye, and the UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi. He said governments are increasingly encouraging private-sector participation, particularly businesses owned by or involving investment from citizens.

Ahmad bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), said the UAE has built advanced expertise in solar energy, water management, treated water use and energy conservation. He noted that Empower is among the world’s largest district cooling companies, with a production capacity of two million refrigeration tonnes.
