Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has awarded a contract worth more than AED 100.8 million to strengthen and protect key parts of Dubai’s water infrastructure, reinforcing the emirate’s long-term utility resilience as development continues at pace.
The tender covers the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of glass-reinforced epoxy water pipelines designed to protect and divert existing services at multiple sites across Dubai. The project also includes extensive associated works such as surveying, excavation, civil construction, reinstatement, and integration with the existing water network.
Implementation will take place across 20 strategic locations in Dubai over a 24-month period. The initiative forms part of DEWA’s ongoing investment programme aimed at expanding and future-proofing essential utility infrastructure to meet rising demand.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DEWA, said the project supports the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to deliver world-class infrastructure aligned with Dubai’s ambitious growth plans. He noted that proactive protection of utility assets is critical to maintaining reliable, efficient, and sustainable water and electricity services across the emirate.
The use of glass-reinforced epoxy pipelines reflects a focus on durability and performance. The material is known for its high strength and corrosion resistance, making it suitable for demanding underground conditions and extending the operational life of infrastructure assets.
By safeguarding existing networks, the project is expected to support new developments, minimise service disruptions, and enhance overall reliability within Dubai’s water transmission and distribution system.
