Dubai Electricity and Water Authority has awarded a AED 216 million contract to enhance the efficiency and reliability of Dubai’s water transmission network, reinforcing the emirate’s ability to meet rising demand and long-term sustainability goals.
The strategic project covers the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of glass-reinforced epoxy pipelines of various diameters, along with associated works across multiple locations in Dubai. The upgrades are designed to improve water flow, pressure, and overall system resilience.
According to DEWA Managing Director and CEO HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, the initiative reflects the authority’s continued focus on boosting production and operational efficiency while strengthening critical infrastructure that supports Dubai’s sustainable development ambitions.
Central to the project is the installation, testing, and commissioning of a 7.1-kilometre main water transmission line. In addition, 20 interconnections will be developed within the transmission and distribution networks to enhance connectivity and performance across several areas of the emirate.
Once completed, the upgrades are expected to significantly improve network readiness and ensure a reliable water supply for both current needs and future growth. The project also aligns with Dubai’s broader infrastructure strategy, which prioritises resilience, efficiency, and long-term capacity planning across key sectors.
The project is scheduled for completion within 24 months and will play a key role in supporting Dubai’s expanding population, economic activity, and multi-sector development initiatives.
