Dubai has taken another decisive step toward cleaner mobility as the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority announced a major expansion of its electric vehicle charging infrastructure, reinforcing the emirate’s push toward a low-carbon future.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, said the EV Green Charger network has surpassed 1,860 charging points across Dubai. The total includes stations licensed by DEWA in partnership with government bodies and private sector entities, reflecting broad collaboration to support electric vehicle adoption.
By mid-January 2026, the initiative had registered 23,600 users. Since its launch in 2014, DEWA has supplied more than 55,200 megawatt hours of electricity through the network, enabling over 276 million kilometres of electric vehicle travel.
Al Tayer said the expansion aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to position Dubai as a global leader in green economy transition and sustainable mobility. He added that the initiative supports the UAE Net Zero 2050 Strategy and the Dubai Green Mobility Strategy 2030, with a focus on reducing emissions, improving air quality, and enhancing quality of life.
The EV Green Charger network offers four types of chargers: ultra-fast, fast, public, and wall-box. Users can locate stations through DEWA’s website, smart app, and 14 additional digital platforms.
Customers can activate a Green Charger account via DEWA’s digital channels or customer care services, allowing access within an hour of vehicle registration. Charging is also available through a Guest Mode feature, making the service accessible to all EV users.
