Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) Sustainability and Innovation Centre has launched a Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Certified Training Programme in collaboration with the World Green Economy Organisation (WGEO).

The initiative aims to strengthen sustainability reporting capabilities among professionals and organisations, supporting greater transparency and accountability in line with international best practices.

The training programme focuses on the application of globally recognised GRI Standards, which provide a comprehensive framework for reporting on economic, social, and environmental performance. These standards are widely used by organisations worldwide to meet increasing expectations from investors, regulators, customers, and communities for clear and credible sustainability disclosures. By aligning reports with GRI Standards, organisations can enhance trust, improve decision-making, and demonstrate their commitment to responsible and sustainable operations.

The programme is designed for professionals with a strong interest in sustainability across a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, environmental studies, natural sciences, and business. It aims to equip participants with practical knowledge and skills to develop integrated sustainability reports that reflect global reporting requirements and evolving stakeholder expectations.

DEWA has a long-standing commitment to sustainability reporting and is a member of the GRI Gold Community. It is also among the first 100 organisations worldwide to adopt the updated global sustainability reporting standards, beginning with its fourth Sustainability Report issued in 2016. Since 2013, DEWA has published 12 sustainability reports aligned with GRI standards, relevant institutional disclosure requirements, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, demonstrating consistent leadership in transparent reporting.

WGEO, which is accredited by the GRI to deliver certified training programmes, brings additional expertise and credibility to the initiative. The collaboration reinforces Dubai’s broader commitment to promoting sustainability, green economy principles, and knowledge-sharing across sectors.

Applications for the GRI Certified Training Programme are open until 12 January 2026. Interested professionals and organisations can apply through the designated online registration link provided by DEWA’s Sustainability and Innovation Centre.
