Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has opened a new Project Management Training Centre at its Campus for Occupational and Academic Development in Al Hudaiba, further strengthening Dubai’s position as a hub for professional development.

The centre, inaugurated by Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, is accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI). It will offer advanced programmes to employees of government and private entities, DEWA subsidiaries, and the wider public, expanding on the utility’s existing internal training success.

Al Tayer said project management is essential in ensuring quality, efficiency and sustainability in line with Dubai’s global leadership in delivering major projects. He added that the initiative supports innovation, data-driven decision-making and institutional resilience.

Dr Yousef Al Akraf, Executive Vice President of Business Support and Human Resources at DEWA, noted that by the end of 2024, 280 employees had earned the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, with another 120 gaining other PMI credentials.

DEWA became Dubai’s first government organisation to secure PMI partnership status in 2010, a move that paved the way for its growing role in advancing project management excellence across the region.
