Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) reported an 18.74% year-on-year increase in electricity connection requests for commercial, residential, and industrial projects through its Al Namoos service in 2025.
The surge reflects growing demand as Dubai continues to expand its infrastructure and economy.
Last year, DEWA received 9,786 electricity connection requests, facilitated by 2,379 accredited consultants and contractors. Al Namoos provides connections of up to 150 kilowatts via a streamlined two-step process completed within five days.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, emphasized the authority’s role in supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). He noted that by fostering a competitive and supportive business environment, DEWA enables sustainable growth for projects of all sizes.
“We provide programmes and initiatives that expand opportunities for project growth and streamline procedures to keep pace with Dubai’s population, urban, and economic growth,”
Al Tayer said. He added that DEWA helps industrial, commercial, and residential projects execute efficiently, ensuring the emirate’s electricity and water demand is met while reinforcing Dubai’s position as a global business hub.
Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, highlighted the authority’s adoption of advanced technologies. Through DEWA’s smart app and website, consultants and contractors can complete transactions securely and seamlessly, anytime and anywhere.
The rise in connection requests underscores Dubai’s rapid development and the critical role of modern utilities in supporting the city’s expanding population and economy.
