Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has been honoured with five prestigious awards by the British Safety Council in 2025, reinforcing its global reputation for excellence in health and safety, environmental management, and employee well-being.
DEWA received the Sword of Honour in Health and Safety for the 18th time, the Globe of Honour in Environmental Management for the 14th consecutive year, and the Shield of Honour in Employee Well-being for the second time. The authority also won the British Safety Council “Best Entity in the Power and Utilities Sector” awards for Environment and Well-Being for the second year in a row.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, accepted the awards from Mike Robinson, CEO of the British Safety Council, in a ceremony attended by senior executives including Dr Yousef Al Akraf and Zaal bin Zaal.
Al Tayer said the accolades reflect DEWA’s commitment to creating a safe and motivating workplace, embedding health, safety, environmental protection, and employee well-being into its operational strategy. He emphasized that this integrated approach enhances efficiency, service quality, and sustainability while aligning with the UAE’s National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The British Safety Council’s Global Honour Awards recognise organisations that demonstrate rigorous standards and a comprehensive culture in managing health, safety, and environmental practices. DEWA’s consistent achievements highlight the maturity of its organisational systems and its role as a model in the global utilities sector.
Since 2002, DEWA has maintained a five-star rating in health and safety audits and, since 2024, in well-being audits, underlining its sustained leadership and adherence to international best practices across all divisions.
