Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) recorded a 4.51% annual increase in electricity connection requests for commercial projects through its Al Namoos service in 2024, reflecting the city's rapid urban and economic growth.
Al Namoos, which means “race winner” in Emirati, provides electricity connections of up to 150 kilowatts within five days via a streamlined two-step process for DEWA-accredited consultants and contractors. In 2024, DEWA received 8,241 electricity connection requests, while its network of accredited consultants and contractors reached 2,123 by year-end.
Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, attributed the rise to Dubai’s expanding infrastructure and business-friendly environment.
“We are witnessing growing interest from consultants and contractors in DEWA’s smart services, underscoring our role in enhancing Dubai’s competitiveness. Our advanced digital solutions and innovative technologies support industrial, commercial, and residential projects, aligning with the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33) to position the emirate as a global investment hub,”
Al Tayer said.
Rashid Bin Humaidan, Executive Vice President of Distribution Power at DEWA, emphasized the organization’s commitment to smart and innovative solutions that ensure rapid and efficient electricity and water service access while adhering to international standards.
Consultants and contractors can also leverage DEWA’s Soqoor Programme, Marafeq Smart Feature, and OWNEK awareness initiative. Additionally, they have access to the second edition of DEWA’s Infrastructure NOC Technical Manual and can seamlessly complete transactions online through DEWA’s website and smart app, eliminating the need for in-person visits to Customer Happiness Centres.
The continued growth in service requests highlights DEWA’s pivotal role in supporting Dubai’s economic expansion and fostering a more efficient and sustainable business ecosystem.
