DEWA Showcases Green Mobility Initiatives at ITS World Congress 2024

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is proudly participating as the Main Sponsor at the Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) World Congress 2024, the premier global event for smart mobility solutions.

Hosted by Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the congress runs until September 20th and highlights innovative advancements in transport technology.

DEWA is using this platform to spotlight its flagship green mobility initiatives, particularly the Electric Vehicle (EV) Green Charger project. This initiative underscores DEWA’s commitment to sustainable transportation through the establishment of a cutting-edge EV charging infrastructure, pivotal to the transition towards cleaner mobility solutions.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, remarked on the significance of hosting the ITS World Congress in Dubai, emphasizing the Emirate’s role as a leader in smart mobility and the adoption of disruptive technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and Big Data. These technologies align with Dubai’s Green Mobility Strategy 2030 and broader sustainability goals.

Al Tayer further stated,

“Our initiatives support the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy, targeting energy expansion by 2033 and striving to reduce carbon emissions in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 and the Dubai Net Zero Carbon Emissions Strategy 2050.”

Since its inception in 2014, DEWA’s EV Green Charger initiative has been instrumental in developing the region’s first public EV charging infrastructure. The initiative now boasts over 700 charging stations across Dubai, including more than 400 operated by DEWA. This network supports over 30,000 electric vehicles, a number projected to double in the coming years.

At the congress, DEWA is also introducing the “EV Green Charger User Dashboard,” a new feature allowing users to monitor their charging and consumption data through DEWA’s website or mobile app. The dashboard provides detailed records of transactions, bill payments, and charger locations, enhancing user convenience and engagement.
