Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is deepening its collaboration with global technology leader IBM to advance digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity initiatives aligned with Dubai’s vision for a knowledge-based digital economy.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD and CEO of DEWA, met with Ana Paula De Jesus Assis, Senior Vice President and Chair of IBM EMEA, to explore new avenues of cooperation. The discussions focused on supporting the Dubai Economic Agenda ‘D33’, which aims to position Dubai among the world’s top digital economies and promote sustainable growth through innovation.
Al Tayer highlighted that DEWA’s partnership with IBM reinforces its commitment to adopting cutting-edge technologies that enhance operational efficiency, improve customer experience, and secure critical digital infrastructure. He reaffirmed DEWA’s goal to become the world’s first AI-native utility by integrating artificial intelligence across its core operations.
The meeting was attended by senior executives from both sides, including leaders from DEWA’s digital arm, Moro Hub. Moro’s collaboration with IBM currently includes the adoption of IBM’s QRadar system to bolster cybersecurity through its state-of-the-art Cybersecurity Operations Centre.
As an IBM-certified Managed Services Partner, Moro delivers Security Operations Centre as a Service solutions, providing clients with advanced threat detection, rapid response capabilities, and proactive monitoring. Ongoing discussions also aim to expand cooperation to include AI applications powered by IBM Watson to further accelerate smart transformation across key sectors in Dubai.
