Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has launched its strategic roadmap to become the world’s first AI-native utility, embedding artificial intelligence across all core operations.
The announcement was made by HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, during GenAI Week, a four-day event focused on AI-driven transformation.
GenAI Week, held at DEWA’s headquarters, brought together AI specialists, industry leaders, and representatives from Microsoft, IBM, ServiceNow, and DataRobot to explore AI’s role in shaping the future of utility services. The event featured workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions on deep learning, AI neural networks, and automation.
“Our strategic roadmap aligns with the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to position the UAE as a global AI leader. This initiative ensures DEWA remains at the forefront of digital transformation while enhancing sustainability, productivity, and efficiency in the energy and water sectors,”
said Al Tayer.
As part of its AI-driven transformation, DEWA has already integrated AI applications across various divisions, including power generation, transmission, distribution, human resources, and legal affairs. The utility has also enhanced its Khadamatech e-services portal and IT support systems with AI-powered governance and security measures. Additionally, Rammas at Work, DEWA’s AI-powered virtual assistant, has been deployed to optimize operations and customer service.
Through strategic collaborations with leading technology firms, DEWA aims to equip its workforce with advanced AI training, ensuring it remains at the forefront of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. This initiative aligns with the UAE National Strategy for Artificial Intelligence 2031, reinforcing DEWA’s commitment to innovation, operational excellence, and stakeholder satisfaction.
