Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has received the prestigious 30th SolarPACES Technology Innovation Award for its cutting-edge innovations at Phase IV of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.

The award was presented in Rome, Italy, to His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, DEWA's Managing Director and CEO, marking a milestone in DEWA’s advancements in renewable energy.

SolarPACES, under the International Energy Agency (IEA), is the world’s leading forum for concentrated solar power (CSP) technology. The annual conference and awards recognize global innovation in CSP and energy storage, highlighting DEWA’s contribution to the sector.

Al Tayer credited Dubai’s clean energy vision, championed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, for driving DEWA's achievements:

“Guided by His Highness’s vision, DEWA has adopted the latest clean energy technologies, increasing renewable energy's share in Dubai's mix and advancing the UAE Net-Zero 2050 Strategy,”

he said.

The fourth phase of the Solar Park, valued at AED 15.8 billion, is the world’s largest single-site CSP plant, with a capacity of 950 MW. It combines three solar technologies: a 100 MW Solar Central Tower with 15 hours of storage, 600 MW from parabolic troughs, and 250 MW from photovoltaic panels. These innovations have set Guinness World Records for the tallest solar tower at 263 meters and the largest thermal energy storage capacity, enabling 24-hour energy production.

“This award reflects DEWA's leadership in sustainable energy and its top global ranking across multiple performance indicators,”

Al Tayer added, underscoring DEWA’s commitment to building a sustainable future as a global leader in clean energy innovation.
