Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has triumphed at the Asian Power Awards 2024, securing two prestigious accolades that underscore its global leadership in renewable and clean energy innovation.
The awards, presented at a ceremony in Singapore's Conrad Centennial Hotel, honored DEWA with the ‘Innovative Power Technology of the Year - UAE’ for its Actual Load Profiles Simulator (ALPS) and the ‘Smart Grid Project of the Year - UAE’ for its Distribution Automation Smart Grid projects.
HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, expressed pride in these achievements, noting that they highlight DEWA’s continued excellence and pioneering role in the energy sector. Al Tayer emphasized that these awards recognize DEWA’s adoption of advanced smart technologies, solidifying its position as a leader among global utilities.
The ALPS system uses artificial intelligence and weather data to simulate accurate load profiles in the electricity network, improving the integration of renewable energy sources. Its innovative photovoltaic simulation model eliminates the need for meters at each installation, ensuring precise energy management.
Meanwhile, DEWA’s Smart Grid projects revolutionize power distribution by enabling remote control and automation, reducing system losses and enhancing operational efficiency. The smart grid's self-healing capability allows for the restoration of power within one minute, achieving a world record low in electricity Customer Minutes Lost (CML) of just 1.06 minutes per customer in 2023.
With a total investment of AED 7 billion through 2035, DEWA’s smart grid initiative plays a crucial role in supporting Dubai’s sustainable energy future and enhancing the city’s electricity and water infrastructure.
DEWA's continued success at the Asian Power Awards highlights its commitment to innovation and sustainability.
