Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s smart Future Signal Catalogue witnessed a large turnout from its employees since its launch till date.

Employees presented more than 700 future signals on the future of technology, DEWA, social life and society, the economy, political implications, reducing emissions, renewable energy, digital technologies and services, water, digital economy and cybersecurity.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, praised the participation of employees for their future signals and positive ideas and noted that the Future Signals Catalogue is one of the tools that DEWA provides to promote innovation among its employees to become effective partners in anticipating and shaping a sustainable future. DEWA considers its employees its key success factor for continued excellence and keeping pace with rapid changes as well as carrying on DEWA’s excellence journey.

“As part of DEWA’s vision to become a globally leading sustainable innovative corporation, we are contributing to Dubai’s progress in leading the future, by reworking the traditional concepts of work mechanisms to suit the rapid global changes and strengthen Dubai’s position as an incubator for creativity and a beacon of innovation; to ensure we are at the forefront of cities that anticipate and shape the future. This is done in line with the government plans and strategies including the Dubai 10X initiative, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, which mandates the Government of Dubai to be a global leader that is 10 years ahead of all other cities through government innovation and the reformation of traditional work mechanisms,” added Al Tayer.

Through the Catalogue, DEWA’s employees can learn about future signals and modern trends, analyse and discuss them, and evaluate turning them into initiatives that shape the future. Signals are typically small or local innovations or disruptive technologies that have the potential to grow. A signal can be a new product, a new practice, a new market strategy, a new policy, or new technology that will shape the future effectively.

To encourage innovation and creativity at the workplace, DEWA also provides the Innovation Fund Programme that supports innovative ideas by employees across all divisions. It enables them to turn their ideas into pilot models and implement them. DEWA also provides Afkari (My Idea) portal, an internal online platform to encourage creativity and innovation in the work environment. It is the first of its kind in the Government of Dubai.
