Since its launch in January 2023, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (DEWA) OWNEK initiative has significantly enhanced communication with accredited consultants and contractors, offering practical tools to streamline project approvals and speed up execution timelines.

The initiative—named OWNEK, meaning “Your Help” in Arabic—has already benefited 6,395 consultants and contractors through targeted awareness sessions and instructional videos. It aims to ensure that project applications are completed correctly the first time, reducing delays and improving efficiency.

OWNEK simplifies the end-to-end process of securing DEWA approvals. So far, it has supported 2,201 preliminary technical consultations and facilitated 34,741 online discussions during project submission and review stages.

Available in both Arabic and English via DEWA’s website, OWNEK offers clear, step-by-step guidance on how to obtain an electricity connection, fill out application forms accurately, prepare the necessary documents, and follow the required technical standards and formats.

It also provides actionable tips to help applicants secure approvals for no-objection certificates (NOCs) smoothly, ensuring compliance with DEWA’s criteria.

In addition, tutorial videos walk users through the inspection process—highlighting exactly what DEWA engineers look for during both high-voltage substation and low-voltage inspections.

By bridging the communication gap and reducing errors in submissions, OWNEK is playing a key role in accelerating project timelines and enhancing collaboration between DEWA and its partners.
