DIFC Hosts 2nd Future Sustainability Forum 2024 to Drive Global Climate Action
Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) has inaugurated the 2nd Future Sustainability Forum 2024, bringing together over 3,000 industry leaders, government officials, and sustainability experts to accelerate the global transition towards a low-carbon, climate-resilient future.
The two-day event serves as a platform to showcase the UAE’s sustainable practices and initiatives, particularly in green finance and climate technology.
The first day featured panel discussions on green financing mechanisms, ESG reporting, decarbonisation, and the circular economy, while day two will focus on innovation, digital transformation, and smart cities. Notable speakers include H.E. Eng. Saeed Al Remeithi of EMSTEEL, Dr. Manfred Braunl of Porsche Middle East, and Jane Goodland of the London Stock Exchange Group.
With participation from 100 global speakers representing 50+ countries, and over 500 investors—20% managing portfolios exceeding USD100mn—the forum underscores the UAE’s leadership in sustainable investment. Alya AlZarouni, COO of DIFC Authority, reaffirmed DIFC’s commitment to driving Net Zero strategies, stating,
“The forum inspires collaboration and knowledge sharing to accelerate global climate action.”
Significant agreements were also signed, including partnerships between Ajman Bank and CarbonSifr on Net Zero targets, Canon and United Arab Bank on climate initiatives, and Lafarge on sustainable construction.
Aligned with the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions, DIFC recently launched the Sustainable Finance Catalyst at COP28, aiming to mobilise USD100bn in sustainable finance by 2030. The forum exemplifies Dubai’s role in advancing global climate resilience through collaboration and innovation.
