Digital Dubai has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Microsoft UAE, aimed at fostering collaboration in technological innovations and ensuring their impactful application.
The signing ceremony took place at GITEX Global 2024, held at the Dubai Government Pavilion, with Digital Dubai’s Director-General, Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, and Microsoft UAE’s General Manager, Naim Yazbeck, representing their respective organizations.
This collaboration focuses on integrating government entities with UAE citizens and residents, particularly in the realm of artificial intelligence (AI). Microsoft is committed to launching a comprehensive initiative that aims to develop AI skills, supporting Digital Dubai’s digital transformation efforts. This includes training AI administrative staff and executives responsible for shaping AI strategies within the Dubai government.
Al Mansoori emphasized the partnership's importance, stating,
“Our collaboration with Microsoft UAE reflects our commitment to building global partnerships and adapting to rapid changes in AI and industrial technologies.”
He acknowledged Dubai's status as a hub for global innovation and highlighted the significant role that Microsoft and similar companies play in shaping the city’s digital landscape.
Yazbeck echoed this sentiment, asserting,
“Artificial intelligence is crucial to Dubai’s vision as a digital city. Our partnership with Digital Dubai will empower government employees, enhance public service quality, and reinforce Dubai's position as a leader in AI innovation.”
The MoU includes initiatives to train developers in AI and raise public awareness about fundamental AI concepts, addressing skill gaps and preparing jobseekers for future opportunities in the digital economy.
